5 Top Paintball Accessories Every Player Needs

Dale — Thu, 13 Mar 2025 00:40:55 +0000

Paintball has become popular with many players and enthusiasts from different backgrounds, cultures, and countries. It is also known as Speedball because it involves moving quickly from one spot to another to shoot your opponent before he shoots you. And what makes this sport fun and exciting is it gives an ultimate adrenaline rush, and everyone who plays knows it’s not just a game. “Paintball is a great team-building game for employees.

It’s a way to get to know your colleagues in a fun and competitive environment while also improving your teamwork skills,” says business expert and team leader Lincoln Beck from Biz Hero. Playing paintball is enjoyable, but you must ensure safety with the right accessories. Whether it’s your first time or you are an old-school player, here are some of the best paintball accessories you will need:

Mask

The mask is an essential accessory that you need when playing paintball. It protects your face from paintballs and other debris while providing great vision.

Several types of masks are available on the market, including full-face and half-masks. The full-face mask will cover your entire face, while the half-mask only covers your top half and leaves your lower face exposed for breathing purposes.

A proper paintball ATSM approved full face mask is mandatory for playing paintball. You must always wear a mask when entering anywhere that paintball markers without an approved barrel blocking devices fitted. To do so could end in being shot in the face and possible permanent eye damage including blindness. A thermal lens is a must! It is a dual layer lens that really defeats fog. If you cannot see, you cannot shoot! Having your own mask is paramount! Check out paintballshop.com for overnight shipping in Australia for a paintball mask!

Gloves

Protecting your hands is one of also something to consider when playing paintball. Whilst gloves are not mandatory to play paintball like a mask, they will reduce the possible pain of being shot in the hand when playing paintball. Wearing gloves will also give you better grip on your paintball marker so it won’t slip from you!

Hands are a common place to get shot, and it you plan on doing any crawling, get some gloves! They are available on-site to purchase on the day!

Comfortable, reliable footware

Your feet are one of your most important assets when playing paintball. You need to move fast without getting slowed down by your shoes. Make sure you have fully enclosed comfortable shoes that can handle all terrain and weather conditions. Action Paintball Games recommends a pair of shoes with high ankle support and a good grip on different surfaces. Definitely no thongs, sandals or anything with a heel of course.

Gun Stand

A gun stand can help protect your paintball gun and keep it in working order. It will also keep your paintball gun safe from damage so that it’s ready to go when you’re about to play.

When choosing a paintball gun stand for your needs, there are several factors to consider. You want something sturdy enough not to tip over or fall over easily but also light enough that you can bring it along with you anywhere.

Gear Bag

Paintball is a fun game, but it can be a pain to lug all of your gear around. You need to have all of your paintball equipment ready and organised so you can play safely and efficiently.

That’s why investing in a durable gear bag is essential to keep all your things in one place.

Paintball is a fun sport and activity you can enjoy with your family and friends. It’s an activity that requires skill, concentration, and teamwork and is a great way to exercise and have some fun outdoors.

At Action Paintball Games, we pride ourselves on offering a fun and safe space to enjoy the thrills of playing paintball.

The Top Health Benefits of Playing Paintball

Dale — Thu, 28 Jul 2022 01:42:33 +0000

Top health benefits of playing paintball

Playing paintball is a great way to stay active and have a good time. If you want to start something different and have healthy habits this year, playing paintball is a good starting point

“Given that you’re using a mask, ammo, and paintball markers, the game seems challenging, but paintball is a fun, healthy, engaging approach to foster collaboration and have some exercise. You have to run and dodge the paintballs fired from the paintball gun that can leave you splattered in colour, so it’s a fun experience!” shared action paintball enthusiasts and health and fitness writer Layla Colling of Health Hero.

However, were you aware that playing paintball may also provide noteworthy health benefits? Listed below are just a handful of the many ways enjoying paintball may benefit your health.

Outdoor activity is healthy

Exercise outside genuinely improves your immunity, attitude, attention, and mood. A University of Michigan research found that taking group nature walks is associated with improved mental health and well-being and noticeably decreased stress and sadness. Another study suggests that exercising outdoors—be it walking, biking, or running—reduces the risk of mental illness compared to exercising indoors.

Great for losing weight and improving general health

It goes without saying that paintball helps people lose weight. Playing paintball provides a vigorous workout that might enhance sleep patterns and increase metabolism. The endorphins released after intense exercise also improve your mood. In addition to helping you burn more calories, playing paintball regularly lowers your chances of developing heart disease, hypertension, and anxiety.

Strengthens the body

While playing and transporting your gear in paintball, you’ll need to be swift on your feet and strong to keep up with the game. Your legs, which are used for sprinting and crouching, your arms, which are used for shooting, and your core, which is used for body stability, are the key regions reinforced when playing paintball.

Improves endurance

Paintball is a fantastic cardiovascular exercise that, as a result of the lengthy period spent on the field, increases your endurance levels. Boosting endurance is one of the reasons why paintball is so popular.

Reduces stress

Playing paintball has advantages beyond the physical. Additionally beneficial to mental health, a thrilling game of paintball will help you forget about whatever is possibly keeping you up late at night and give you a much-needed endorphin boost. Since you’re busy evading enemy fire, there isn’t time to reflect on the pressures of daily life.

Ready to benefit from a healthy sport?

Paintball is a physically demanding sport that requires stamina, agility, and the thrill of blasting paint gels while donning a combat mask and many other safety gears and working with your team to defeat your opponents. It’s all in fun!

Action Paintball can provide the most enjoyable introduction to the sport if you get in touch with us when organising paintball birthday parties, teambuilding activities, bucks day or if you simply want to have fun while playing with friends.

Paintball As A Family Activity

Dale — Thu, 19 May 2022 01:43:05 +0000

Planning and strategy as a family

How about working on strategies with your family members? Taking cover behind obstacles? Ambushing your enemies? Does this sound like something from an action movie? Well, it’s not. It’s a fun and enjoyable game of Paintball.

“My family and I had never played Paintball before. At first, I thought players played it similarly to laser tag, but it was more exciting when we had the chance to experience the game. We used to go hiking and fishing together, but now we’re more fascinated by Paintball,” says relationships and dating specialist Greyson Piper of Pickup Line.

If you need further convincing, consider these eight reasons why playing Paintball is a perfect activity for your family.

It's fun!

No paintball player would deny that the opportunity to have a good time is one of the sport’s most significant advantages. The surge of excitement induced by just running about, striking opponents or getting shot with paintballs unleashes the inner child in us. Playing Paintball is a fantastic day out with family, full of fun and excitement.

Major stress reliever

Playing Paintball is a great way to let off stress without causing injuries to others. Occasionally, letting off steam while playing Paintball could also help you improve your abilities. The endorphins generated during vigorous activity help relieve stress and tension and promote relaxation

Boosts self-confidence and interpersonal skills

Paintball is a team sport. This necessitates planning and execution, which can only be accomplished when all players collaborate as a team. For family members, it fosters teamwork and may help you develop your leadership potential. Tense game scenarios generally bring out the best in participants and improve their self-confidence.

Excellent for losing weight and general wellness

Playing Paintball is a great way to lose weight. Paintball sessions provide an intensive activity that may benefit sleeping patterns and metabolism. Endorphins are released after intense exercises, which improve your mood. In addition to burning fat, regular paintball activity with your family helps lowers the risk of cardiovascular disease, increased blood pressure, and anxiety.

Families will unite as a team!

Many families have hectic schedules, with everyone dashing out on their own path. Even though you spend a lot of time together, there’s just something special about accomplishing something together. Working for a shared goal like playing Paintball brings families together as a team. It encourages you to focus on the family unit instead of the individuals inside it.

Opportunity to build stronger bonds

Family paintball promotes collaboration and serves as an excellent bonding activity. Your team may select a name, a colour, and even try coming up with a humorous catchphrase, handshakes, or chants before the game.

You’ll feel immediately linked to your teammates as the game begins. Aside from that, you’ll also learn to collaborate and unite around a common goal of winning.

You'll start to feel better

Even if you’re not very athletic, playing a fast-paced game will make you feel better about yourself. It’s a disguised workout! At Action Paintball, we can tailor the activity to your family’s various fitness levels, competence, stamina, and experience while always ensuring that the emphasis is on having fun.

Walking, bicycling, and playing board games are all tried-and-true ways to spend quality time with the people you care about most. And although all of these are enjoyable, nothing beats donning a paintball uniform, firing a paintball gun, and getting a bit messy! Paintball is an overlooked family game that teaches collaboration, open communication, and confidence while burning calories and forming relationships. Why not play Paintball with your family the next time you want to get everyone together and bond?

Action Paintball is the best place to go when getting started in Paintball. We can help you arrange paintball activities, corporate team building activities, birthday parties, and many more.

How to Aim and Shoot a Paintball Gun

Dale — Fri, 11 Feb 2022 00:44:33 +0000

Aiming Your Paintball Gun

Getting good at shooting with a paintball gun is very important. One of the biggest factors to your accuracy in paintball is how you aim the gun. As someone using a paintball gun, you should be standing between 5-10 meters away from your target when shooting it. Being closer or farther than that will decrease the likelihood of you hitting the target. You want the guns air tank to be in your shoulder. This helps you stabilize and shoot while moving. If the tank of the gun is not in your shoulder, you will not be as accurate.

You want to look down your paintball gun’s sights when shooting. If you don’t have a scope or red dot already attached, your gun might come with iron sights that should be placed on either side of the front end of the gun to help you aim and shoot while playing this sport . At Action Paintball Games you get the top of the line markers that dont require sights or scopes!

The easiest way to aim you gun is to keep BOTH eyes open and look down the side of the gun. Fire one shot and adjust for the next. Its is that easy.

PRO TIP: If an enemy is far away from you and you dont know how high to adjust your aim, just start super high and shoot rapidly with each consecutive shot getting lower and lower. This is guaranteed to get a hit on the other player!

Holding Your Marker

Holding the gun straight and steady is going to be your best shot. If you want to learn how to aim and shoot a paintball gun, it’s very important you try not to shake the gun around while shooting. It will take some time before you get used to aiming and shooting a paintball gun.

Keep both hands on the marker! The front hand pulls the gun into your shoulder and your dominant hand focuses on pulling the trigger. Dont grip the gun tight with your trigger hand!

You will have bad days where all your shots miss or hit the side of the target instead of dead-on center; there are no exceptions. Do not lose hope! Keep playing, keep practicing, and eventually your accuracy should improve as you play more often.

Since everyone has different strengths when playing paintball, their accuracy will vary depending on what type of shots they can hit and which type of shots they struggle to make. For example, some players might excel at shooting enemies who are running across open fields but not be as accurate when trying to shoot enemies in wooded areas. And vice versa.

Being Aware of Your Surroundings

Being aware of your surroundings is the basis of personal security. Learning to aim and shoot is redundant if you end up getting shot. I recommend listening carefully for potential attackers and practicing looking around constantly.

Knowing your paintball gun’s limits is also important because it will help you determine where you should avoid standing during a game, such as behind trees or inside hallways. Standing too close or too far away from obstacles and other players will decrease the likelihood that you’ll hit your target if your gun isn’t equipped with a scope or red dot sights. Shots made beyond 25 feet without those accessories attached could possibly miss the target completely!

Also consider that sometimes you can step back to get more room and still be covered by a wall, tree or obastacle.

Consider your footwear when you are playing paintball because you will require complete focus and optimal grip especially when running to avoid being hit. We always recommend footwear with ankle support and an agressive tread. Trail running shoes are ideal.

The best way to improve your aim and shot is practice. You can use old cans for some target practice before going out on the field. Get familiar with a paintball gun and soon enough you’ll be a pro.

Hold your position. Look to the right. No one’s there. To the left, you see an enemy hiding but he hasn’t seen you. You aim, lock on your target and shoot. Bang. As paint splashes down his back and you claim victory. You jump up and down… cheering, holding your gun, confident that your team has won this round of paintball. Just then, you feel something hitting you. You see paint streaking down your chest. Damn! You missed the last one and you’ve lost. Joy turns into sadness. Yet excitement doesn’t leave you. You’re thrilled with your first ever game of paintball. Wait… don’t tell me you’ve never gone paintball. Fine, read this article to find out exactly what you need to know before you play your first round of paintball.

The Fundamentals

At Action Paintball, we know all about having a satisfying, quality game. In our prime location at Yarramundi, 10 different battlefields, 10 kinds of paintball guns and 20 years of experience and cutting edge equipment to help you make your first paintball game the most memorable. Oh and you must be over 12 years old to play this thrilling game.

What You Should Wear

Get your strong shoes out. Hiking boots, cross-country running shoes are the best. The terrain is uneven and changes a lot. You’ll also have to deal with a lot of stumps and rocks. So, get shoes with good traction. According to the boutique apparel store owner at Tierra Alma, pants and a long-sleeve shirt are probably not mandatory but highly recommended. Paula explains “Breathable apparel is a good choice in the summertime, since it can get a bit hot outside.” And we agree, you’ve got to be able to move freely so that you can shoot more of your enemies. And NO cleats. We don’t want you to fall and injure yourself on your first outing. Headbands and hats certainly help. Not only do they absorb sweat, but they also take some of the brunt of a paintball when you get shot in the head. We’re frequently asked whether or not participants should wear a cap. To be honest, people rarely only get shot down there. Hopefully, your first day will give you beginners luck. So, the decision is really yours (It’ll be the best $10 you ever spent if you get shot there though). If you want additional protection, chest protectors are certainly available to cover that area as well (women and everyone under 16 years get chest protectors FREE).

Top Reasons Why Paintball Is Perfect For Your Kid’s Birthday Party

Dale — Tue, 02 Nov 2021 00:47:17 +0000

The world is currently in the digital age where people, especially kids, spend most of their time on mobile phones and computers. It is so typical nowadays that people sometimes forget to go out and live a little. Kids today are too engrossed in technology and video games; they would undoubtedly enjoy an adventurous game, like Paintball during their birthday party. Professional paintball player and SEO services head Christian Green of Writefuel explained the wonders of Paintball. He said, “Paintball is an outdoor activity that promotes exercise, proactiveness, team building, and creativity. Conducting a paintball match during your kid’s birthday will surely make it memorable for them.” It might be daunting for first-timers due to concerns about safety, especially with kids involved. Fortunately, working with a good and trusted paintball company can help guarantee that every participant is well-geared and safe to play. If you are still uncertain and hesitant, here are a few more reasons why you should consider Paintball!

Helps Kids Stay Active While Having Fun

With the pandemic still going on, people’s options for fun are limited and restricted. That puts a bit of a damper on kids’ birthday parties as they cannot entirely go full out. Paintball offers a whole new level of fun during these trying times. It is a fun game that requires energy and teamwork to win. Through this activity, your kid will not only enjoy it, but they will also be able to stretch their legs and exercise! There will be crawling, kneeling, running, and moving involved in this activity.

Strengthens Friendships

Paintball can help kids bond and become closer! While they are hunting down the opposing side, teammates will naturally gravitate towards each other due to their shared goal of success. For a kid, nothing beats working with their closest friends to be hailed as crowned winners in the paintball battlefield.

Promotes Competitiveness

While not every child likes typical games in the playground, you can still test out their competitive skills! Paintball can help bring out your kids’ competitiveness and urge to win.

Let Their Imagination Go Wild

Kids always have this hidden drive to be creative, and there’s no better place to unleash that than in a paintball battlefield. A game of Paintball can help let their imagination run wild. They can help one another by thinking of strategies to one-up their enemies and come out on top.

Creates Unforgettable Memories

The typical family and friends gathering with finger foods and a few tag rounds do not scream ‘unforgettable’. However, a fun-fuelled day of Paintball? Now that’s something a kid will remember in the years to come.

Encourage Your Kids To Be More Active With Paintball

Paintball is everything you and your kid would want at a birthday party. It offers exercise, a breath of fresh air, and an eventful activity. It also helps kids create new friends, stronger bonds, and lasting memories that they can treasure throughout their childhood. Why Buying Your Own Paintball Marker Beats Renting: Complete Beginner’s Buying Guide

Dale — Wed, 03 Feb 2021 00:47:42 +0000

Why Buying Your Own Paintball Marker Beats Renting: Complete Beginner’s Buying Guide

Stepping onto the field with your own paintball gear completely changes the game. While field rental markers are built for durability and abuse, they are often heavy, heavily detuned, and inconsistent. Buying your own setup gives you better accuracy, faster fire rates, improved air efficiency, and serious long-term cost savings.

Here is everything you need to know about buying your first paintball setup in Australia, from air tanks and hoppers to maintenance and legal requirements.

1. Top Benefits of Owning Your Own Paintball Marker

Better Performance and Accuracy

Rental guns take a beating every weekend and are tuned down for basic safety margins. Your personal marker can be fine-tuned, balanced for your wingspan, and set up ultra-light or heavy depending on your playstyle.

Long-Term Cost Savings

Renting gear and buying retail paint on site adds up quickly. Owning your setup unlocks BYO-gear perks across paintball parks:

Cheaper Paintballs: A box of 2,000 paintballs drops from typical retail prices around $150 AUD to as low as $80 AUD.

Discounted Field Fees: Most dedicated fields offer reduced walk-on entry fees for players bringing their own kit.

2. Essential Gear: Choosing an Air Tank and Hopper

A marker will not run by itself. You need two essential accessories to hit the field: a high-pressure air (HPA) system and a hopper. Budget an extra $400 AUD on top of your marker’s base price to cover a solid entry-to-mid-tier tank and loader. Both accessories use universal threads and feed necks, meaning they transfer seamlessly to any future markers you buy.

Compressed Air (HPA) Tanks

Forget outdated CO2 systems; modern paintball runs on high-pressure air (HPA). Tanks fall into two primary categories:

3000 PSI Aluminum Tanks: Budget-friendly and tough, but heavier and limited on shot count. Common sizes include 13ci, 48ci, and 62ci.

4500 PSI Carbon Fibre Tanks: Lightweight, high-capacity, and capable of delivering significantly more shots per fill. Available in volumes ranging from 48ci up to 122ci (with 68ci being the industry standard). Prices typically range from $240 to $320 AUD.

Hoppers: Gravity vs. Electronic

Loaders feed your paint into the breach, and your choice determines your maximum rate of fire:

Gravity Feed Hoppers ($15–$30 AUD): Best for casual, low-budget setups. They feed up to roughly 8 balls per second (BPS) and often jam unless you physically shake the marker, resulting in dry fires.

Electronic Hoppers ($100–$300 AUD): Motor-driven impellers feed a ball into the breach for every single trigger pull, easily keeping up with markers shooting 15–20+ BPS.

3. Mechanical vs. Electronic Paintball Markers

+------------------+-----------------------------+-----------------------------+
| Feature | Mechanical Markers | Electronic Markers |
+------------------+-----------------------------+-----------------------------+
| Power Source | 100% Mechanical (No Battery)| 9V Battery / Rechargeable |
| Firing Rate | 6–10 balls per second | 15–22+ balls per second |
| Breach Eyes | No | Infrared anti-chop eyes |
| Maintenance | Very simple, robust | Needs moisture-free care |
| Best For | Woodsball, casual rec play | Speedball, competitive play |
+------------------+-----------------------------+-----------------------------+

Mechanical Markers

Mechanical markers use mechanical linkages to cycle the bolt and release air.

Pros: Highly reliable, immune to wet weather, and require no batteries.

Cons: Slower rate of fire; pulling the trigger while a ball is halfway chambered causes breach chops.

Top Recommendations: Planet Eclipse EMEK 100, GTEK M170R.

Electronic Markers

Electronic markers use an electronic circuit board and solenoid valve to cycle the bolt with minimal trigger travel.

Anti-Chop Infrared Eyes: Optical sensors ensure a paintball is fully seated in the breach before the marker allows the solenoid to fire. This virtually eliminates broken paint inside the breach.

Efficiency: Adjustable dwell settings and electronic valve timing maximize air conservation per shot.

Top Recommendation: Planet Eclipse Etha 3 (exceptional reliability and high-end spool-valve internals at an accessible entry price).

4. Hopper-Fed vs. Mag-Fed Markers

While magazine-fed (mag-fed) markers offer a realistic military simulation (mil-sim) feel, they carry clear tactical trade-offs:

Capacity Limitations: Standard magazines carry roughly 20 rounds and cost around $50 AUD each.

Field Dynamics: Playing mag-fed against players with 200-round hoppers puts you at a severe firepower disadvantage.

Versatility: Over 90% of field players run hopper-fed markers. A hopper-fed marker is welcome in almost every game format, while mag-fed markers are only truly balanced in dedicated mag-fed scenarios.

5. Marker Maintenance and Reliability

Modern paintball markers are straightforward to maintain at home:

Lubrication: Clean the bolt assembly and apply a light coat of paintball-specific grease or oil after every few outings.
O-Rings & Detents: The majority of air leaks stem from worn dynamic O-rings. Keep a standard O-ring parts kit handy; replacements take minutes. Check rubber ball detents periodically to prevent double-feeding.
Moisture Protection: Always keep electronic boards and solenoids dry. Avoid submerging electronic markers or spraying down the frame with water.

6. Australian Paintball Licensing Requirements

In Australia, paintball markers are regulated under state and territory firearms legislation. You must hold an appropriate licence before purchasing or possessing a marker:

NSW: Paintball markers are regulated under the Paintball Act 2018. Eligible residents can complete an approved paintball marker safety training course (or firearm safety training equivalent) and submit an online application via Service NSW for quick permit processing.

VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT: Paintball markers generally fall under category-specific firearms licensing frameworks (typically requiring genuine reason, safety courses, and standard background checks).

Always verify the latest storage, transport, and permit-to-acquire regulations with your respective state police registry before buying.

What to Expect Your First Time Playing Paintball

Dale — Mon, 01 Feb 2021 00:49:01 +0000

Will It Hurt?

The first thing people are worried about is “Will it Hurt?” and the best answer is that it “can” hurt. Depending on where you get shot and the range you get shot at, and how many times, determines the amount of pain! 95% of the time it is just a slight sting, like an elastic band being snapped onto you. If you happen to get shot in the head, these are almost always on the goggles, and at Action Paintball the goggles are the brand-new BASE Operator mask with tons of protection for your head! Without a little bit of pain when shooting your mates, there really is no point! The entire reason paintball is so different and so fun is that you get to shoot guns at your friends and give them a little revenge!

Adrenaline

It is very addictive and fun. When you get to the field and start getting your gear, you will start to feel extremely excited from the adrenaline! When you are paintballing, you feel like you are in another world! It can be intense, but in a good way. For 99% of all people, it is SUPER-FUN. There is nothing like the feeling and sound of paintballs whizzing by your head at 300 feet per second. Well, except the feeling of shooting your mate at the other side of the battlefield!

How long are the Paintball Games?

The games only last for about 10-15 minutes before break time. Most people think that the games last for an hour, and the first question is “What happens if I get hit in this time?’. Well, all you must do is go back to your start base and respawn! We make sure our games give everyone a second chance and keep you in the game shooting and having a great time. Depending on the game, you can have unlimited lives, or just a few, some games even have a medic that can revive you!

Physical Fitness and Intensity

Expect that you are going to get a great workout! Paintball is a lot of moving, kneeling, crawling, standing and running! Once you get the gun in your hands you won’t even notice how much hard work you are doing until after the day! Most people will be sore from the actual moving during the game rather than the paintball marks. Drink plenty of fluids and go hard!

Expect the Paintball Rules are Followed

You should also expect that your group is well policed by the referee that takes you on the field. The referee’s main job is to ensure safety, and secondly ensure that everyone is having fun and no rules are being broken! Some people try to cheat and break the rules, and the referee should take care of that quickly with a FIRING SQUAD. At Action Paintball Games, we are strict on the safety rules (do not take your goggles off) and do not cheat (wipe off paintball marks). You should expect this service from any paintball field!
